Two Teams Selected to Represent Portugal in the 2025 Global Finals in China

On May 24th, the campus of the Higher School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal (ESE/IPS) came alive as 22 passionate student teams from across Portugal gathered for the MWRC Portugal Regional Competition

Organized by CCTIC-ESE/IPS in collaboration with MatataStudio and Areal Editores, the event fused coding, robotics, and sports into a dynamic and educational experience. Through a series of STEAM-based challenges using VinciBot and the Smart Sports Kit, students demonstrated not only programming skills, but also teamwork, critical thinking, and sportsmanship.

This unique Smart Sports Competition encourages kids to solve real-world problems with logic and creativity—while staying active and having fun. It's more than a contest; it's a celebration of learning, movement, and imagination.

A major highlight? Two outstanding teams were selected to represent Portugal at the MWRC International Finals in China, November 2025. This milestone marks the beginning of a global journey—building cross-cultural friendships and fostering a shared love for STEAM education.

What is MWRC?

The MatataWorld Robotics Competition (MWRC) is a global STEAM event launched in 2020. Designed for children in primary and lower secondary schools, MWRC gives students the chance to express themselves through robotics, logic, and teamwork. With participants from China, Japan, Canada, Singapore, and beyond, it aims to empower the next generation of thinkers and creators.
